The Ark Encounter

ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter is becoming a Christmas tradition for families in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Enjoy the spectacular Christmas video sharing the hope of Christmas! And the state-of-the-art, 70-by-22-foot LED screen inside the Answers Center really makes the video colors and animation pop.  You’ll also enjoy a life-size ark and gardens illuminated in rainbow-colored lights, Ararat Ridge Zoo, festive food and drinks, traditional Christmas carols, a massive fair trade market and gift shop for Christmas shopping, and so much more.

From the moment you turn the corner and the towering Ark comes into view, to the friendly animals in the petting zoo, to the jaw-dropping exhibits inside the Ark, you'll experience the pages of the Bible like never before.  This marvel of engineering is seven stories tall and is a football field and a half long.  It is the largest timber frame structure in the world.  Get ready to experience close-up encounters with stunning animals.  Some life-like recreations from Noah's day and many living-and-breathing animals from today.

The touring continues as we head to Ohio Amish Country, visiting local artisans and craftsmen, a Christmas Show, and more!

Ohio Star Theater

Spend a fun-filled, family-friendly evening enjoying a memorable performance at the Ohio Star Theater at Dutch Valley. From unforgettable characters to old-fashioned simplicity and non-stop laughter, this is the place to let your heart sing and your spirit soar.

David Warther Museum

David Warther Carvings is a leading Ohio attraction located in the center of Ohio's Amish community. The exhibit features nearly 90 carvings made by David Warther, a 5th generation carver of Swiss heritage who works daily in his on-site workshop where he regularly demonstrates carving techniques and tools including his hand filing and sanding method of making the ivory rigging lines. The carvings created by Warther depict the "History of the Ship" from 1st Dynasty Egypt to the present day. Our carver purchases old legal estate elephant tusks and is knowledgeable of the laws and regulations regarding the buying and selling of legal pre-ban elephant tusks in the United States. Created in miniature from legal antique elephant tusk ivory and ebony wood the details include intricate scrimshaw engraving and finely carved ivory rigging lines that measure just twice the thickness of a human hair.

The exhibit consists of 5 spacious rooms dedicated to different eras of shipbuilding. Each room is quite spacious with ample seating for ease and comfort. The Medieval room with its Viking ships is a favorite among visitors as is the Ancient room where ancient Egyptian, Roman, Phoenician and Greek ships convey the story, in David's beautiful art form, of how ships appeared in these early times. Amish and Mennonite guides conduct lively tours of this interesting and highly educational exhibit.

David Warther Carvings is an enjoyable place to visit for every member of the family, any season of the year. The hilltop portico and clock tower pavilion with its' observation deck provide exceptional views and photo options of the neighboring Amish farms in Walnut Valley. The DWC is also home to the DWC Gift Shop that has become an attraction in itself and can be visited separately.
